
A quartet of Asian partners comprising of MISC Berhad, together with its consortium partners, Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK), Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K-Line) and China LNG Shipping (Holdings) Limited, have secured a further five LNG carrier newbuildings for long-term time charters with QatarEnergy.
MISC said these 174,000 cubic metres LNG carriers will be built by Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding with the delivery time commencing from 2025, and will serve the needs of QatarEnergy in the transportation of LNG to various countries around the world.
Together with the seven long-term time-charter contracts that were secured earlier in August, this brings to a total of 12 newbuilding LNG carriers awarded by QatarEnergy to the consortium, as it is mentioned by the company.
These LNG carriers will be equipped with eco-efficient technologies such as X-DF 2.1 engines with Intelligent Control by Exhaust Recycling System, which will reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
MISC Berhad´s fleet consists of more than 100 owned and in-chartered vessels comprising of Liquefied Natural Gas and Ethane carriers, Petroleum and Product vessels, Floating Production Systems, as well as LNG Floating Storage Units with a combined deadweight tonnage capacity of more than 13 million tonnes.
