The Djibouti Shipping Company (DSC) has announced that it is expanding its boxship fleet as part of its continued commitment to enhancing regional East African maritime connectivity.
DSC is currently operating the MV/Africa Sun, a 1,118-TEU vessel that has served the company routes across the Mediterranean and Red Seas for the past five years.
The company now informs in a statement that it is acquiring a second container vessel with a capacity of 1,200 TEUs.
This new boxship addition will enable DSC to extend its services network also to the Arabian Gulf, Gulf of Oman, Arabian Sea, and the Indian Ocean.
DSC states that a third vessel with a capacity of 2,000 TEUs already is in the pipeline for purchase, reinforcing the growth strategy of the shipping company.
With the strategic location of Djibouti, DSC is now creating an African shipping network that connects regions, supports trade, and boosts regional cooperation.
