Hapag-Lloyd fleet reaches 300-ship milestone

Germany’s Hapag-Lloyd celebrated on Thursday its fleet strength and a record 300-ship in the company’s history.

The German liner operator has reached a significant milestone “that will be making waves-quite literally”, as it says, with the launch and delivery of the charter vessel Nordatlantic, increasing its fleet to 300 vessels.

“With the launch and delivery of the charter vessel Nordatlantic, Hapag-Lloyd AG now operates more ships than ever before,” the liner operator said.

The Nordatlantic will soon be joined by her sister ships, Nordbaltic and Nordpuma, as part of a package deal with Reederei NORD Group, strengthening the company’s intra-Asia feeder services and supporting its broader fleet upgrades.

The 300-ship is 1,930-teu Nordatlantic built by CSSC HuangPu Wenchong Shipbuilding Co., Ltd, according to data from family-owned, ship owner and manager Reederei NORD.

“This milestone reflects not only the growth of our fleet but the dedication of our teams and the trust of our partners worldwide,” said the company in a social media post on LinkedIn.

According to Hansa Online, Hapag-Lloyd’s capacity grew by 18.7% in 2024, reaching a total of 2.3 million teu.
