The 5,500 teu container ships will be delivered into 7-year charters with ZIM Integrated Shipping Services.
The ships, which will be long-term employed, have feature cutting-edge, environmentally friendly designs that reduce fuel consumption by an impressive 40%, as its owner claims.
The container ships are also designed for cost-efficient conversion to methanol operations, potentially achieving up to 90% emission reductions with “green” methanol.
Meanwhile, the shipowner signed a $55m pre- and post-delivery ECA covered financing agreement with Deutsche Bank and SINOSURE for its two dual-fuel methanol newbuildings, in accordance with the company’s announcement on April 25.
The vessels are scheduled for delivery towards the end of 2024 and are secured by 15-year time charter agreements with North Sea Container Line (NCL). The loan matures in 2036.
The two vessels feature dual-fuel engines that enable operation on green methanol.
