MPC Container Ships secures 15-year charter for newly delivered boxship

Norway’s MPC Container Ships ASA has expanded its fleet portfolio with a newly build container ship and secured a charter agreement for 15 years.

The dual-fueled containership NCL Vestland was delivered on January 22 to the shipowner by the shipyard.

“This innovative vessel embarks on a 15-year charter to North Sea Container Line, ensuring reliable and efficient service along the beautiful and diversified Norwegian coastline,” the shipowner disclosed.

The 1,300 teu dual fuel vessel powered by methanol embarks on a 15-year charter to North Sea Container Line.

The newly delivered unit is able to burn green methanol reducing CO2 emissions by up to 95%, according to the shipowner MPC Container Ships ASA.

The company didn’t reveal details about the shipyard but Taizhou Sanfu Heavy Industry Group Co., Ltd issued a statement yesterday mentioning that on the afternoon of January 22, Sanfu Shipbuilding, delivered the 1,300 teu dual fuel (methanol) containership NCL Vestland.

The shipyard didn’t disclose the name of the shipowner but mentioned that it had successfully delivered the ship to a Norwegian shipowner.

The 1,300 teu dual-fuel (methanol) container ship is equipped with MGO+methanol dual-fuel main engine, using green methanol as the main fuel.
