MSC Mediterranean Shipping company celebrated yesterday in Bremerhaven the naming ceremony of its new giant container vessel “MSC Michel Cappellini”.
The celebrations included artistic performances, usual speeches as well as the ceremonial ribbon cutting and obligatory nautical tradition of champagne bottle breaking against the hull of the vessel.
MSC states that the “MSC Michel Cappellini” is 400m long and can carry up to 24,346 containers. She is a vessel of the new Celestino Maresca class, which is the new MSC category of ultra-large container ships with a total of 14 vessels ordered, as the company mentions.
