A fire that broke out on board a London-registered container vessel at PSA Pasir Panjang Terminal on Friday (Apr 10) has been extinguished.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said it was alerted to a container fire on board the Ever Lenient at about 3pm on Friday.

There were no reported injuries, and all crew members are accounted for, according to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore. No oil pollution was reported.

In an update on April 11, the MPA said firefighting efforts continued through the night, led by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).

MPA deployed patrol craft to conduct seaward cordon duties and drones to provide aerial surveillance in support of the firefighting operations.

“SCDF continues to cool the area to ensure no residual heat remains, while PSA Singapore (PSA) is assisting with the safe discharge of the affected containers,” said MPA on Saturday, April 11.

PSA has implemented the necessary measures to ensure the safety of personnel and that port operations at Pasir Panjang Terminal remain unaffected, MPA added.

On Friday, the MPA reported that it was alerted to the incident and deployed three patrol craft, along with PSA’s Emergency Response Team, SCDF firefighters, and vessels from SCDF’s Marine Division.

According to MPA, port operations at Pasir Panjang Terminal are not affected and safety measures are in place in the vicinity of the affected berth.

The cause of the fire involving containers on board the 9,466-teu vessel (2014-built) is under investigation.
