Wan Hai Lines held a ship naming ceremony on August 23 for Wan Hai A17 accompanied by a charity event at Samsung Heavy Industries Geoje shipyard.

The ceremony was officiated jointly by Po-Ting Chen, chairman of Wan Hai Lines, and S.A. Choi, vice chairman and CEO of Samsung Heavy Industries.

Wan Hai Lines had signed a total of thirteen 13,100 teu containerships with Samsung Heavy Industries since 2021.

Wan Hai A17 is the tenth vessel in the 13,100 TEU series containerships.

The vessel is scheduled for delivery in late August and will be deployed in Wan Hai Lines’ Asia to the East Coast of North America service, known as “AA7.”

These ships feature a length of 335 meters, a breadth of 51 meters, a draft of 16 meters and a maximum cruising speed of 22 knots.

As it is claimed by Wan Hai Lines, they are equipped with newly designed engines with environmentally friendly features, aimed at achieving energy-saving and fuel-efficient advantages.

Additionally, this series of vessels has obtained the “Smart Ship Notation” certification, which enables the use of various monitoring systems and communication equipment to collect real-time ship navigation data and equipment operation conditions.
