Attica Group, a long-standing Greek shipping company operating across domestic and international routes, has signed agreements to acquire two Aero Highspeed Catamarans, for approximately €15m, including upgrade and commissioning costs.
The ships – built in 2017 and 2018 – will enter service in the Saronic this summer as Aero Highspeed 4 and Aero Highspeed 5.
Concurrently, Attica Group has agreed to sell, in a single en-bloc transaction, the vessels Flying Cat 3, Flying Cat 4, Flying Cat 5, Flying Cat 6 and Highspeed 4, owned by its subsidiary, for a total price of €25m.
With these replacements, the average age of the fleet operating on the Saronic routes will fall to 5.8 years.
Attica Group has also entered into a five-year bareboat charter agreement for the passenger-and-vehicle ferry GNV Bridge, with an obligation to purchase the vessel at the end of the charter period.
The vessel is expected to be delivered by May 2026.
The ship, to be renamed Superfast V, was built in 2021 at Cantiere Navale Visentini in Italy. As informed, it will replace the 1987-built ship Lefka Ori on Adriatic routes.
Superfast V has a capacity of 950 passengers, 157 cabins with 616 beds and 2,564 linear meters of garage space for cars, trucks and trailers.
The new fleet, which will operate on these routes, will have an average age of 8.6 years (compared to 24.8 years currently).
Furthermore, Attica signed an agreement for the bareboat charter of the 1990-built passenger-and-vehicle ferry Kydon, owned by a subsidiary. The charter duration has been set at four years, with a contractual obligation for the counterparty to purchase the vessel upon completion of the charter period.
Panos Dikaios, chief executive officer of Attica Group, stated: “The renewal and upgrading of our fleet is a strategic priority for Attica Group and a key pillar of our investment program. The above agreements, following the sales of ships completed in 2025 (KRITI I, KRITI II, EL VENIZELOS and five Flying Dolphins), confirm Attica Group’s commitment to a newer, more efficient and more competitive fleet, capable of meeting the modern requirements of passenger shipping.”
