Early morning hours of Sunday, the “Fast Ferries Andros”, with the help of tugs, moored safely at the port of Rafina, Greece and the adventure of the hundreds of passengers of the ship is finished.
The 730 passengers of the ferry were trapped in the ship since Saturday 9th of September when the left anchor chain of “AIKATERINI P” got wrapped around the right propeller of “Fast Ferries Andros”.
In the area winds of 7-8 Beaufort were blowing, according to reports, and because of the winds any thought of transferring the passengers and transporting them ashore was ruled out.
There were elderly people and children on the ship, while the strong winds created an increased inconvenience for the passengers.
An operation was set up at the scene, and after many hours the ship was towed to port safely, whilst the passengers have been disembarked from the ship.
It took the dive crew hours to free the ship, but the adventure of the ferry, with 730 passengers and 48 crew, finally ended in the morning of Sunday.
