Meyer Floats out Disney Cruise Line’s Next Cruise Ship

Disney Cruise Line’s newest cruise ship left the large building dock and is now berthed in the shipyard’s harbour.

Papenburg-based shipbuilder Meyer Werft reported that the Disney Treasure floated out of the building to dock into the shipyard harbor.

A scene of excitement greeted the ship, as a group of cheering spectators in Papenburg, Germany, gathered to watch the special construction milestone.

As informed, a tugboat led the way, guiding the ship’s stern through the narrow doorway, which allowed for just three feet on either side of the vessel.

The Disney Treasure is now ready for finishing touches to its interior venues as it continues to prepare for its transatlantic journey to its future home port in Florida.

This is another LNG-powered ship in the family business of Meyer Werft shipyard. The new cruise ship has 1,240 cabins and a size of 144,000 gross tonnage.

The Meyer Werft shipyard founded in 1795 and is in its seventh generation of family ownership, said in a statement last year that the ship, like her sister Disney Wish, will be equipped with low-emission LNG propulsion.

Earlier this year, Disney Cruise Line and Meyer Werft celebrated the keel laying ceremony of the sister ship of the Disney Treasure. The ship with expected delivery in 2025 will also have a low-emission LNG propulsion system.
