Japan’s shipping major Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has today announced the launch of MOL Sunflower Ltd, which integrates two wholly owned ferry and coastal Ro-Ro vessel operating companies.

The new company brings together MOL Ferry Co. with President Naotoshi Omoto and Ferry Sunflower Limited with President Mitsujiro Akasaka.

The new company will carry on the “Sunflower” brand, which has supported Japan’s logistics for half a century and continues to contribute to the enrichment of people’s lives through cruise travel.

MOL Sunflower will begin operations on October 1, offering services as one of Japan’s large ferry and coastal Ro-Ro vessel operator, with six regular routes and 15 vessels in service.

The firm said today in a statement, that “intends to achieve further company growth by integrating and consolidating these two companies, which serve as the core of the MOL Group ferry business.”
