ADS Maritime moves to direct shipowning after kamsarmax purchase

The Oslo Stock-listed company, led by Bjørn Tore Larsen, ADS Maritime Holding Plc is buying a kamsarmax bulk carrier, to be renamed Fjeld Saga (tbr). The move signals a strategic return into direct shipowning after taking the last years minority interest/shareholding in projects across the tanker and offshore sectors.

The company has agreed to acquire the 2013-built Fjeld Saga, an 82,900 dwt bulk carrier, at market terms.

ADS Maritime Holding has not disclosed the vessel’s purchase price.

The delivery is expected to take place between November and December 2025, whilst the completion is subject to customary conditions, including charterer’s consent to transfer of the vessel’s present charter.

The deal signals a significant move for the company after taking the last years minority interest/shareholding in projects across the tanker and offshore sectors (VLCC, MR tankers, shuttle tankers and in a dive support vessel).

Established in 2018, ADS Maritime Holding Plc is a shipping investment company, listed on the Euronext Growth Oslo Stock Exchange.

The company focuses on making counter-cyclical investments within the maritime sector. A typical investment can be ownership of 10% – 25% of a shipping project, whereby the company also earns fees through various roles such as arrangement fees, business management fees and commercial management fees.
