Greek DryDel Shipping is moving into the capesize sector through a newbuilding deal with shipyard in Japan. DryDel Shipping, led by Costas Delaportas, shared a photo in the social media of the signing of the order of two 182,000-dwt sister vessels from Namura Shipbuilding in Japan.
The Athens-based company revealed in a LinkedIn post on Monday that it has expanded its orderbook with a pair of ships scheduled for delivery within 2028.
The Greek shipowner didn’t disclose any financial details about the order, but it said that the new project is a joint venture with its “trusted Japanese partners”.

The two scrubber-fitted capes will be fully managed both commercially and technically by DryDel.
The company said that with this expansion it takes advantage of a historically low cape orderbook, and also diversification with larger-size vessels.

This deal follows the delivery of four newbuild 40,000-dwt vessels from Namura Shipyard in Japan in 2024.
Recently, DryDel took delivery from Namura the ship MV Lolita, with a cargo capacity of 40,420 MTS, which is the final newbuild from the order of four vessels.
The latest move lifts the company’s orderbook to 10 dry bulk vessels to be delivered over the next four years.
