Bermuda-based drybulk owner Himalaya Shipping has agreed to convert the index-linked time charters for four vessels to fixed rate time charters at an average rate of approximately $35,300 per day, gross. The shipowner didn’t disclose the names of the vessels, but Himalaya Shipping has in its fleet portfolio 12 dual fuel newcastlemax dry bulk vessels, according to the company’s website data.
The company said the unnamed vessels are being moved off index-linked deals from 1 August to 30 September.
Furthermore, the vessels will continue to earn scrubber benefits, the shipowner said, according to the terms of the existing time charter agreements.
Following the conversion, the company will have the following average rates fixed for vessels that were previously on index-linked charters:
From August 1 to September 30, the company will have six vessels at an average of approximately $34,100 per day, gross.
From October 1 to December 31, it will also have two vessels at an average of approximately $31,800 per day, gross.
Currently, Himalaya Shipping has twelve vessels in operation.
