The New York Stock Exchange-listed drybulk shipowner Safe Bulkers, Inc. has entered into an agreement for the sale of Pedhoulas Leader, a 2007 Japanese-built, kamsarmax class dry-bulk vessel.

At the same time, the orderbook of the company consists of 6 dry bulk vessels, two of which dual-fueled, with an aggregate carrying capacity of 0.7 million dwt and deliveries from the second quarter of 2026 until the first quarter of 2027.

The Polys Hajioannou-led company said the gross sale price for the Pedhoulas Leader is $12.5m.

The company states that the kamsarmax will be delivered to her new owner between August and October 2025.

The company didn’t disclose the name of the buyer. Meanwhile, the shipowner has announced that it is expanding the company’s fleet portfolio with six modern energy-efficient vessels, four of which will be delivered in 2026.

Dr. Loukas Barmparis, president of the company, stated: “As part of our fleet renewal strategy, we have sold one of our oldest vessels, having achieved the targeted sale price. Our company has on order six modern energy-efficient vessels, four of which will be delivered to us within 2026.’’

All newbuilds on the company’s orderbook have been placed in top quality shipyards, the shipowner said, adding that are designed to meet the phase 3 requirements of energy efficiency design index related to the reduction of green house gas emissions and with the latest NOx emissions regulation, NOx-Tier III.
