The push to cut greenhouse gas emissions through wind-assisted ship propulsion continues to gain traction after Anemoi has renewed a framework agreement with COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry Ltd (CHI) to support rotor sail installations at CHI subsidiary shipyards.
UK-based Anemoi Marine Technologies expanded its long-standing rotor sail collaboration with CHI.
The partners first signed a cooperation agreement in 2022 and since then have completed the installation of nine rotor sails at CHI subsidiary shipyards, including VLOC installations for both Vale and U-Ming at CHI Zhoushan.
Under the updated agreement, Anemoi’s rotor sail customers can access CHI’s technical installation services covering integration design through to onboard installation across CHI’s subsidiary shipyards in China.
CHI embraces 9 large-scale shipyards capable of ship newbuilding, repair & conversion, offshore and marine equipment & services.
“By combining CHI’s installation expertise with our proven Rotor Sail technology, we can deliver even more value, clarity and confidence to owners looking to retrofit or install wind-assisted propulsion on their newbuild vessels,” Nick Contopoulos, CCO of Anemoi, said.
Rotor Sails are suitable for most vessel types, including newbuild and retrofit, bulk carriers (geared and gearless), tankers, LNG and LPG carriers, ferries and roros. Anemoi Marine Technologies typically installs between three and five rotor sails, up to 35 metres in height, on each vessel.
