London-based shipowner Union Maritime has closed a $130m delivery financing agreement for two advanced newbuild LR2 tankers.

The deal was led by Societe Generale and The Export-Import Bank of China and arranged through a syndicated facility.

The vessels are scheduled for delivery from YZJ in late 2025 and early 2026.

Each tanker will be equipped with BAR Technologies’ WindWings® and LNG dual-fuel propulsion systems, positioning them, according to the company, among the most innovative and sustainable LR2 vessels on the water.

“With the integration of WindWings® technology and dual-fuel capability on these vessels, Union Maritime is proud to be setting a new standard for innovation and sustainability in the maritime industry,” Union Maritime said in a social media post on LinkedIn.

BAR Technologies has confirmed an order for its WindWings® propulsion system to be installed on two new LR2 dual-fuel tankers.

The new 250-metre-long tankers, Suzuka and Long Beach, will each be equipped with two 37.5m WindWings®.

Design is handled by SDARI and construction by Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry (XSI), with steel cutting expected in November 2025 and delivery scheduled in the first quarter of 2027.

The vessels will be flagged under the Marshall Islands and classed by Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore.

The order follows the “successful integration of WindWings,” as the company claims, aboard the UML-operated Brands Hatch.

Last month, Union Maritime announced the upcoming delivery of Brands Hatch, a new build Long Range 2 tanker, featuring three 37.5m WindWings®, developed by BAR Technologies and manufactured by CMET.
