Ahti Pool has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with Neste on December 11 to include Neste’s EU- exposed fleet into Ahti’s FuelEU Maritime compliance pool, according to Ahti Pool statement.
This takes Ahti Pool’s total vessels under management to almost 250.
“We are proud to announce that Neste, the global leader in renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel, is about to include its entire EU-exposed fleet in our Ahti Pool for FuelEU Maritime compliance,” the statement reads.
Each ship in Ahti Pool efficiently shares the compliance burden with other pool members, Ahti Pool said in its statement, adding that it “collectively benefits from the pool’s economies of scale.”
With European rules targeting an increase in the share of renewable fuels in transport to at least 14 per cent by 2030, there will be a major rise in the need for lower-emission energy products.
Neste’s vessel fleet, including e.g. raw material and end product tankers, as well as dual-fuel LNG and methanol vessels, plays a crucial role in Neste’s transports in Europe and around the world.
Risto Kariranta, Ahti Pool’s CEO, commented, “We are excited to welcome Neste’s fleet, and we look forward to working with the global leader in renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel to help Neste create an additional revenue from the FuelEU Maritime compliance surplus.”
