Drewry: The World Container Index decreased 10% this week 04-2026

In accordance with the assessment of Drewry Supply Chain Advisors, the container rates this week continued the decreasing tendency. As it is mentioned, their composite World Container Index decreased by 10% to $2,212 per 40-foot container.

Freight rates from Shanghai to Rotterdam decreased by 9% or $253 to $2,510, and Rotterdam to Shanghai decreased by 2% or $11 to $502 per 40-foot container.

The rates from Shanghai to Genoa decreased by 8% or $319 to $3,520, while Shanghai to Los Angeles decreased by 12% or $363 to $2,546. As it is also reported, those on Shanghai to New York decreased by 11% or $377 to $3,191 per 40-foot container.

Meanwhile, the rates from Los Angeles to Shanghai decreased by 4% or $27 to $705 and Rotterdam to New York decreased by 4% or $64 to $1,570 per FEU. Furthermore, the freight from New York to Rotterdam this week decreased by 1% or $6 to $983 per 40-foot container.
