EDF LNG Shipping SAS, a subsidiary of Electricité de France (EDF), has chartered a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier on a long-term basis for LNG transportation under the ship management of Gazocean, a French ship-management company, jointly owned by NYK and Geogas LNG, specializing in LNG.
The LNG carrier, Elisa Halcyon, ordered by France LNG Shipping SAS (a French ship-owning company jointly funded by NYK and Geogas LNG SAS) from Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries in Korea, was completed and delivered on October 31.
The long-term charter deal was signed in 2022 and spans for up to 20 years.
In January 2022, France LNG Shipping SAS signed a long-term charter contract for a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier with EDF LNG Shipping SAS.
The vessel was ordered by France LNG Shipping SAS from Korea’s Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries.
Elisa Halcyon is 297.2 meters long and 46.4 meters wide. It is equipped with a WinGD-manufactured dual-fuel slow-speed diesel engine capable of operating on fuel oil and boil-off gas, Japanese shipping company Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK Line) said in a statement on its website on Friday.
Geogas LNG SAS is part of the Geogas Group, which has over 40 years of experience in LNG vessel ownership and LNG transportation in France.
