Furetank clinches five-year charter deal with UK Ministry of Defence

Sweden-based tanker specialist Furetank has entered into a five-year time charter agreement with the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence (MoD) Operational Energy Authority (OEA) for the delivery of clean petroleum products (CPP) as per the ministry’s tender.

The time charter involves the intermediate tanker vessel Fure Vanguard, built in 2024 and owned by FureBear. It commences in January 2025.

As part of the agreement, the vessel will be operated under British origin flag and crew will be of EU, NATO or Commonwealth Nationality.

To remind, FureBear is a joint venture between Furetank Rederi AB and Canadian shipowner Algoma Central Corporation, owning a fleet of dual-fuel intermediate product tankers trading mainly in North European waters.

On the other hand, Furetank which based on Donsö in the Gothenburg archipelago, is a Swedish family-owned shipping company active in tanker shipping since the early 1950’s.

“We are delighted to establish this new business relationship with the MoD and honoured to serve the United Kingdom, a long-time close partner nation to Sweden, during the coming years,” reads the company’s statement.
