The Stockholm-based Wallenius Marine AB has announced in its social media, that its 6500-car equivalent unit (CEU) pure car truck carrier (PCTC) Way Forward, has delivered into her long-term charter for the Volkswagen Group.

The Way Forward is the second of two vessels designed in co-operation with Danish ship designer Knud E. Hansen for Wallenius Marine AB.

Both PCTC vessels were built at the CIMC Raffles Shipyard in Longkou, China with long-term charter to Volkswagen Group.

Wallenius Marine reported that the vessel Way Forward entered the SEAPORT Emden – The Port of Emden in Germany, for her first assignment to carry cars between Europe and the United States.

In accordance with the company, “the design of both PCTS vessels is optimized for the lowest possible energy consumption and lower emissions with, among other things, aerodynamic shape to reduce wind drag, optimized cargo decks and ramp system, shaft generator of active front end type which cuts up to 10% of emissions, elimination of ballast water under full conditions, adaptable multi-fuel engines and also shore connection for zero emissions in port”.
