Captain Panagiotis Tsakos to be awarded for his contribution in Greece

Greek shipowner Captain Panagiotis Tsakos will be honored this Saturday, November 18, 2023, for his contribution to culture, education, society and Greece, in a special ceremony organized by the Hellenic Open University at its Amphitheatre.

The academic event in honor of Captain Panagiotis Tsakos is organized by the Hellenic Open University, in the Amphitheater of the institution.

In particular, the Hellenic Open University, following a relevant recommendation by the School of Humanities and a unanimous decision of the Steering Committee, will award Captain Panagiotis Tsakos, Founder of the “Maria Tsakos” Foundation, an Honorary Doctorate from the School of Humanities of the Hellenic Open University.

The event will be attended by leadership representatives of the Hellenic Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, members of the Steering Committee, members of the academic community of the Hellenic Open University and other Universities, Members of Parliament as well as representatives of Municipal and Regional Authorities.

At the end of the award ceremony, as per usual, there will be a speech by the honored Captain Panagiotis Tsakos entitled: “The two-way relationship between shipping and the universality of Greek culture”.
