Denmark’s fund management company European Maritime Finance (EMF) has revealed an order of three 88,000 CBM class LPG dual fuel LPG/ammonia carriers in conjunction with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI).
The two partners celebrated recently their collaboration in a ceremony for their recent order. EMF has expressed its satisfaction with the deal.
The vessel names will be EMF Viking I, II and III, hull nos. 3516, 3517 and 3518. The forthcoming LPG/ammonia carriers can carry and run on ammonia.
Martin Haugaard, founder, chief executive officer (Schweiz) AG and chairman of the Investment Committee, said: “European Maritime Finance is proud of our commitment to deliver state-of-the-art vessels that meet the highest standards of sustainability and innovation, in collaboration with Atlas Maritime and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), remaining dedicated to setting new sustainable benchmarks in the maritime industry.”
To remind, Denmark’s finance firm EMF has a long-standing partnership with the Greek shipowner Leon Patitsas, founder and CEO of Atlas Maritime, a very well-known businessman in Greece.
Last year, Patitsas, the shipowner whose name is among the 50 most powerful Greek shipowners in Forbes list 2024, partnered with European Maritime Finance on the sale of the M/T Dakota Strength aframax oil tanker for a record $39.5m, delivering a return of respectively 220 % and 115 % for the two separate directly done investments.
EMF and Atlas Maritime also embarked on the construction of suezmax tankers with a shipyard in South Korea, as announced in various media outlets.
Leon Patitsas is not alone in most of these projects, as it has Denmark’s EMF as a partner, with headquarters in Copenhagen due to its ever-growing Scandinavian client base.
