Greece’s dry bulk owner Globus Maritime is currently negotiating through its subsidiary, Daxos Maritime, a sale and leaseback financing for a vessel under construction at Nantong Cosco KHI Ship Engineering.

The deal would include Daxos Maritime to sell the vessel for a purchase price of $28m on or about September 30, 2024, subject to delays during construction of the vessel, to an unaffiliated third party, and to bareboat charter the vessel to Daxos.

Daxos Maritime would bareboat charter the vessel from the new owner for period of 10 years, and will have the right under the charter to purchase the ship during the charter period at various purchase prices.

Furthermore, will have the obligation to purchase the vessel at the end of the charter period for a purchase price of $15.81 million. Globus maritime would guarantee the payments.

Globus said the deal is subject to a number of conditions, including negotiating and agreeing and approval by all parties of the final documentation for the transaction.

Earlier this year, the owner signed two contracts for the construction and purchase of two fuel efficient bulk carrier of about 64,000 dwt each. The two vessels will be built in a shipyard in Japan and are scheduled to be delivered during the second half of 2026.

The price revealed by the company is about $75.5m, and the shipowner intends to finance with a combination of debt and equity.

Meanwhile, the dry bulk owner entered into various agreements to offload three of the company´s vessels.

The first deal involves the 2007-built Sun Globe for a gross price of $14.1m, which was delivered to its new owners in June.

The second deal is for the 2009-built Sky Globe for a gross price of $10.7m, and the third sale is the 2010-built Star Globe for a gross price of $11.2m. Both vessels already delivered to its new owners.

Currently Globus’ subsidiaries own and operate six vessels with a total carrying capacity of 453,745 dwt and a weighted average age of 10.9 years.
