Greek companies presented their investment opportunities in the maritime reconstruction project of Ukraine during the Ukrainian-Greek business forum.
The Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine has called on Greek companies to join the projects, as the maritime infrastructure is critical to Ukraine’s economy.
This was discussed during the forum held with the participation of representatives of 10 leading Greek companies, the Ministry of Development reports.
The purpose of the forum was to discuss the involvement of Greek business in the reconstruction processes of Ukraine.
In particular, the Ministry considers Greece as a strategic partner in the restoration and development of the maritime industry.
Deputy Minister Maryna Denysiuk thanked Athens for its practical assistance, including the use of the ports of Thessaloniki and Alexandroupolis as additional destinations for the export of Ukrainian grain, which was a response to the Black Sea blockade.
“We are deeply grateful to Greece for its practical support in creating safe and reliable alternative routes to counter the blockade of Black Sea ports. The use of Greek ports – Thessaloniki and Alexandroupolis – as additional destinations for the export of Ukrainian grain demonstrates the strength of this strategic partnership,” the minister said.
“We particularly welcome the interest of Greece, as one of the largest maritime powers in the world by fleet tonnage, in maritime transportation from Ukrainian ports. This partnership is crucial for supporting global food security.”
The Ministry is ready to present to its Greek partners the Maritime Connection Reconstruction Plan developed in cooperation with Estonia in early 2024.
During the forum, business representatives presented their areas of work and opportunities to participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine.
The participation of Greek businesses in maritime reconstruction projects opens up new opportunities for bilateral partnership and economic growth in the region.
