Nigeria’s LNG Limited (NLNG) subsidiary has chartered an LNG carrier newbuild owned by Capital Gas Ship Management under a long-time employment.
The owner and the NLNG team had the chance to celebrate the delivery of the vessel on May 17 at HD Hyundai Samho Co., Ltd.
The ship Aktoras, will be delivered in a few days to Nigeria LNG Limited for a 7-year bareboat charter, as it is reported by the shipowner.
“It’s the first ship out of two that we will be delivering to Nigeria LNG Limited and we had a chance to celebrate its delivery last week with the NLNG team at HD Hyundai Samho Co., Ltd,” said Jerry Kalogiratos, chief executive of Capital Product Partners L.P, in a short statement in LinkedIn.
“Both vessels are expected to provide their charterers the lowest possible unit freight cost today with the minimum carbon footprint,” the chief executive added.

Bonny Gas Transport Limited (BGT), a subsidiary of Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), has chartered the Eco-Friendly newbuild vessel, Aktoras to diversify and reduce the carbon footprint of its shipping portfolio.
A statement posted on Thursday on the NLNG’s LinkedIn page said the vessel, owned by Capital Gas Limited, is an innovative prototype, equipped with MEGA propulsion systems, with a 174,000 m3 capacity class LNG carrier, a length of 299.6 metres, breadth (moulded) of 46.40 metres and deadweight of 81,194 tons, symbolising a pivotal addition to BGT’s fleet, leased under a bareboat charter arrangement.
The ship will be managed by NLNG Shipping and Marine Services Limited (NSML).
During the ceremonial ship naming event in the shipyard in South Korea Mrs. Olu Arowolo Verheijen, special adviser to Nigerian President on Energy, christened the vessel as the sponsor lady and godmother.
The event was graced by Ambassador Ferdinard Nwonye, the Nigerian ambassador to South Korea; Dr Philip Mshelbila, BGT’s executive vice president and managing director and chief executive officer, NLNG; Mr. Olakunle Osobu, deputy managing director, NLNG; and Mr. Abdul-Kadir K. AHMED, managing director and chief executive officer of NLNG Shipping and Marine Services Limited (NSML).

Others at the event were Mr. Andy Odeh, general manager, external relations and sustainable development, NLNG; Mr. Ufuoma Otomewo, general manager, commercial, NLNG; Jerry Kalogiratos, chief executive officer of Capital Gas Ship Management Corp., among others.
