The Greek shipowner Angelicoussis Group, led-by Maria Angelicoussis, has announced that a newbuild LNG carrier entered its expanding Athens-based affiliate Maran Gas Maritime fleet.
The Bureau Veritas-classed LNG carrier, Maran Gas Antibes was delivered on September 20 to Maran Gas Maritime by Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI).
As informed, this is vessel 48 that Maran Gas Maritime welcomed in its fleet, bringing its active fleet portfolio to 144 vessels covering the LNG, tanker, and dry bulk markets.
The Maran Gas Antibes, which proudly flies the Greek flag, is part of the Group’s larger order with SHI that includes four LNG dual-fuel VLCCs and three LNG carriers.
The ship encompasses an eco-friendly design and state-of-the-art innovations, including an efficient hull form, two latest-generation propulsion engines, an air lubrication system and shaft generators, the Greek shipowner claims.
Angelicoussis Group says that the LNG carrier will be on long-term charter to TotalEnergies. To remind, the Maran Gas Nice, which entered the expanding Maran Gas Maritime fleet on August 27, will also be on long-term charter to TotalEnergies.
“The Nice and Antibes names represent the historical ties between Greece and France, mirroring the strong relationship between the Angelicoussis Group and charterer TotalEnergies,” highlighted the shipowner.
Recently, the Greek shipowner welcomed another newbuild LNG carrier, the Maran Gas Kimolos, carrying the Greek flag, to the Maran Gas Maritime (MGM) fleet. On Tuesday, 10 September, Hanwha successfully delivered the ABS classed vessel to the company.
The Maran Gas Kimolos is the first in a series of 11 newbuilding LNG carriers on order with the Hanwha Group to be delivered gradually between 2024 and 2027.
“This latest series incorporates MGM’s MEGI “Generation 3” specification, incorporating experience from 13 vessels already in service with the MAN-MEGI propulsion system, an evolving and continuously improving design,” Angelicoussis Group said.
