At a distinguished ceremony held yesterday at the Presidential Mansion, President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou awarded the Order of the Grand Cross of the Order of Honour to the Greek shipowner Panagiotis Laskaridis, Rear Admiral of the Hellenic Navy.
In her address, President Sakellaropoulou highlighted Laskaridis’ extensive contributions to his country, particularly in the fields of defence and cultural heritage.
She emphasised that the award is a token of the State’s gratitude for his invaluable service to the common good.
“Admiral, I award you the Order of the Grand Cross of the Order of Honour in recognition of your long and multifaceted service to your country. Both in the field of defense, which you support with special generosity, and in the field of culture, through the initiatives of the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation, which you chair, promoting Greek letters, historical knowledge, naval research, cultural heritage, and the connection of tradition with innovation,” President Sakellaropoulou stated.
She also commended Laskaridis for his active societal engagement and his unwavering support for the Navy, a crucial pillar of national strength.
She drew parallels between Laskaridis and the great benefactors who historically supported Greece during critical times, praising his patriotic contributions to national security by bolstering the Navy’s deterrent capabilities.
“This medal is an expression of the State’s gratitude for your valuable contribution to the common good,” concluded President Sakellaropoulou, honoring Laskaridis’ enduring commitment to his homeland.
