Greek ship management company Laskaridis Shipping has sealed an MoU agreement with the National Technical University of Athens with the main objective to plan collaborative research, educational, and training activities of mutual interest adding to the numerous R&D programmes that Laskaridis Shipping has undertaken the past few years.
The aim is to support educational training and enhancing students’ career prospects and collaborating in research activities and developing know-how, in the field of shipping where Greek entrepreneurship has a pioneering international presence and excellent growth prospects.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreement was signed on October 17 by the company’s President Dr. Panagiotis Laskaridis and the Rector of NTUA Andreas Boudouvis, in the presence of the Vice-Rector I. Hadjigeorgiou, the Dean and the Professor of the school of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering K. Belibasakis and Mr. I. Georgiou, respectively.
The chief operating officer of Laskaridis George Christopoulos and several other executives of the company were also present.
Laskaridis, took control of privately held company Lavinia Bulk which commercially manages a large fleet of mid-to large-size dry bulk vessels.
Dr. Panagiotis Laskaridis, the president of the company stated: “I admire and love the National Technical University of Athens. Our Group has in its potential worthy partners who are graduates of NTUA and are willing to collaborate with the Technical University in educational and research programs. It is our goal to remain, as a Group, at the center of technological and environmental developments and that is why we already have a very good cooperation in some joint programs with NTUA. We hope that synergies like this one will provide us with useful tools to weather the storm of technological and environmental developments already announced, but also for the in-depth cultivation and development of our companies human resources.”
Andreas Boudouvis, rector of NTUA, noted: “The cooperation between the two sides draws from the multifaceted and productive synergy between the company and the School of Naval Architecture of NTUA, but extends to all specialties of engineers active in the broad field of shipbuilding and shipping industry. It is also an important partner in claiming and implementing competitive research and field projects.”
