Greek shipping company TMS Cardiff Gas has reported the naming ceremony for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier built by Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI). The newly built vessel is set to embark on a multi-year charter with Osaka Gas International Transport.
Athos LNG, hull no. 2635 is the first in a series of newbuild LNG carriers already delivered by the major shipbuilder.
With a capacity of 174,000m³, equipped with MEGA propulsion, shaft generator, and air lubrication system, Athos LNG is said to be an “example of TMS’s commitment to innovation and sustainability towards a greener tomorrow.”
The vessel is set to embark on a multi-year charter with Osaka Gas International Transport (subsidiary of Osaka Gas Co., Ltd.).
The Greek company did not disclose the duration and rate of the charter but said Osaka Gas has taken the new LNG carrier for a multi-year period.
“A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in the construction and development of this vessel, and a special acknowledgment to our partners,” said TMS in the social media LinkedIn.
