Hanged in his cabin on Wednesday was found a 35-year-old seaman, a member of the crew of a Malta-flagged cargo ship that was docked in Greece’s Perama Shipbuilding Zone for maintenance and repair work.

Coast Guard officers immediately went to the scene, while the man was picked up by an ambulance vehicle and transferred to the General Hospital of Nikaia, where he was pronounced dead.

After investigation it was found that the 35-year-old crew member was a kitchen cleaner and had a foreign nationality.

The 4th Perama Port department of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus, which conducts the preliminary investigation of the case, ordered an autopsy by the Forensic Service of Piraeus.

In the morning hours today, the 4th Perama Port Department of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus was informed about the existence of a hanged man, inside his cabin, on a Maltese-flagged cargo ship, which was docked at the Perama Shipyard Repair Zone for maintenance-repair work.

Officials of the Hellenic Coast Guard immediately went to the area, where they found that it was a 35-year-old foreign crew member with a specialty as a kitchen cleaner. The man was picked up by an ambulance and was transferred to the general hospital of Nikaia, where he was pronounced dead.

From the 4th Perama Port Department of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus, which conducts the preliminary investigation, an autopsy was ordered by the Forensic Service of Piraeus.
