Sonangol to add two HD Hyundai newbuild LNG carriers to fleet

South Korea’s HD Hyundai announced on April 8 that it had secured a contract to construct two LNG carriers, valued at approximately US$520m.

The company confirmed that Sonangol Shipping Holding Limited is the counterparty to the order.

The contract, disclosed by HD Hyundai, covers the construction of two LNG carriers at HD Hyundai Samho.

The delivery is set on September 28, 2029.

The contract period starts on April 7, 2026, and ends on September 28, 2029.

The vessels will be built at HD Hyundai Samho.

HD Hyundai Samho is a South Korean shipbuilder specialising in large commercial vessels, including container ships, LNG and LPG carriers, oil tankers and car carriers, operating as part of the HD Hyundai group.
