MPC OSE newbuilding

O.S. Energy has unveiled the construction of two additional OSSVs at the Danish Esbjerg Shipyard A/S. Following MPC Capital AG completion of fundraising for its offshore service vessel platform, with Eurazeo serving as the lead investor, this development has paved the way for declaring the option with Esbjerg Shipyard A/S to construct two additional OSSVs.

“We are pleased to announce that, we have declared the first option,” O.S. Energy said, adding that the three vessels are “ideally suited” for missions in the fields of subsea inspections, geophysical and geotechnical surveys, as well as environmental baseline studies and impact assessments.

To remind, Hamburg-based investment and asset manager MPC Capital completed recently a €70m fundraising for its offshore service vessel platform with Eurazeo as the lead investor.

MPC Capital revealed that European investment group Eurazeo and a large European family office are investing in MPC Capital’s recently launched platform for offshore service vessels.

The platform was initiated by a joint venture of MPC Capital and O.S. Energy (‘MPC OSE Offshore’) to develop, build and manage service vessels, which are specifically designed to operate in offshore wind farms.

“As a first step in building the platform dedicated to maritime offshore assets, MPC Capital has secured the construction of six offshore survey and service vessels (OSSV),” Shipping Telegraph wrote on November 6.

“MPC Capital and O.S. Energy have commissioned the construction of a first vessel at the Danish Esbjerg Shipyard early November and have secured the option for five further units,” O.S. Energy said at that time. The delivery of the first vessel is expected in the first half of 2026.

With a total investment volume of €130m, the vessels are constructed at Esbjerg Shipyard in Denmark with an expected delivery schedule between 2026 and 2028.

The OSSVs will primarily be deployed in offshore wind farms in the North Sea and Baltic Sea. Their technical specifications make them suitable for a wide range of applications throughout the lifecycle of offshore wind farms as well as other offshore employment cases.

The vessels will be equipped with propulsion technology that enables CO2-neutral operation. Furthermore, MPC Capital will provide investment and commercial management services and will co-invest in the new investment platform.

For the development and operation of the project, MPC Capital has partnered with O.S. Energy, a German specialist in offshore projects and services.
