Subsea digital infrastructure solutions provider OMS Group has inked a contract with Royal IHC, a supplier of maritime technology, for the construction of a series of cable-laying vessels, according to Royal IHC.
Royal IHC said in a statement that the first vessel is expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2027.
This move has been confirmed by the OMS Group in a social media post in LinkedIn.
The company did not disclose any financial details or the total number of vessels to be constructed.
It only mentioned that the new vessels will help OMS Group to meet the surge in telecommunications demands.
The first vessel, due to be completed in the first quarter of 2027, will have a length of 130 meters and breadth of 22 meters. Its cable tank capacity will be approximately 6,500 tonnes.
