PaxOcean lands contracts for up to four OCVs with renowned shipowner

PaxOcean, an owner and operator of five shipyards and member of Kuok Maritime Group (KMG), has sealed shipbuilding deals for a pair of cutting-edge offshore construction vessels (OCVs) with a renowned, as the company said, European shipowner.

An option for two additional vessels has also been secured. The delivery of the vessels is scheduled for 2027.

PaxOcean Group (PaxOcean) said the deal with an undisclosed value covers two OCVs that will support the conventional and renewable offshore energy industries.

The 123-m-long vessels, with a 1,750 square meter cargo deck area, will boast a 250-tonne active heave-compensated offshore crane, DP2 dynamic positioning, and accommodations for up to 123 personnel.

The ships will feature a full-beam hangar for two work-class ROVs, a 1000KWh battery energy storage system, and provisions for future carousel installation and moonpool operations.

The vessels incorporate options for methanol readiness and can handle a diverse range of offshore operations, including subsea construction, ROV support, and inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) activities.

“PaxOcean is confident that these vessels will be instrumental in the energy transition, particularly within the burgeoning offshore wind sector, while also providing essential support for sustainable operations across the conventional and renewable offshore energy markets,” the company’s statement reads.
