Borealis Group’s Aurora Offshore is bolstering its position in the offshore market through a shareholding and management deal with Siem Offshore AS.

Norway’s Aurora Offshore AS, part of Borealis Group, has announced a joint vessel operation with Siem Offshore AS.

As a result of the deal, Siem Offshore will become a shareholder in Aurora Offshore and will transfer the management of their owned fleet of nine offshore vessels to Aurora Offshore.

The introduction of the nine vessels to Aurora Offshore will take the overall fleet size to 28 vessels, consisting of 2x offshore construction vessels, 1x multipurpose platform supply vessel, 6x anchor handling vessels and 19x platform supply vessels.

“These additional vessels will allow Aurora Offshore to enter the subsea market as well as enhance our current AHTS and PSV fleet,” noted Steve Brackenridge, the chief executive officer of Aurora Offshore.

The combined fleet will employ approximately 950 seafarers, Aurora Offshore said, either directly or indirectly.

Steve Brackenridge, CEO of Aurora Offshore, added: “This is a significant milestone in the company´s development, and is a great credit to everyone who has been involved with Aurora Offshore since it was established in 2021.”
