Spanish head-quartered Boluda Corporación Marítima’s towage division, Boluda Towage (Boluda), and its Honduran subsidiary announce that it begins towage operations in Puerto Cortés, Honduras.
Puerto Cortés is located in the north of the country on the Caribbean coast and is one of the largest and best equipped in the region plus additionally it is the only deep-water port in Central America as Boluda states.
Boluda’s fleet in Honduras is made up of three powerful tugs with 70 tons of bollard pull and with ASD propulsion: the VB KUKULKAN, the VB BRIBON and the VB CHIHUAHUA.
The first two of these tugs were recently built by Damen Shipyards and comply with the IMO’s (International Maritime Organization) strict IMO TIER III regulations on reducing emissions for marine engines and thereby making them the first tugs with this environmental qualification to operate in Honduras, Boluda mentions.
