China has established on November 29 the Hainan International Ship Registration Administration in Hainan province.
The ceremony which marked the launch in Yangpu, Danzhou, Hainan province of the Hainan International Ship Registration Administration was attended, among others, by members of the transport ministry and leaders of shipping companies.
The Hainan Maritime Safety Administration is one of the provincial level administrative organs directly under the ministry of transport of China.
The ceremony in late November marked the launch of the registry with the presentation of the registry’s first ownership certificate to a heavy load carrier ship.
“This opens a new era as it will effectively enhance the international comprehensive competitiveness of China’s shipping industry,” an official said.
Since the release of the Hainan Free Trade Port Overall Plan in 2020, nearly 700 new shipping entities have been added to Hainan, which places Hainan among the leading provinces in China for shipping capacity growth, according to the Hainan Maritime Safety Administration.
