Cocaine worth an estimated €10.5m has been seized by Revenue officers at Dublin Port on August 13, as Irish Tax and Customs reports.
An investigation is under way after the drugs, which weighed 150kg, were discovered concealed within a freight container that had recently arrived in Dublin Port.
The seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by Revenue’s customs service and the Garda national drugs and organised crime bureau.
The seizure was part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations involving organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.

In a separate drugs detection on August 10 at the Rosslare Europort, Revenue officers seized approximately 783 kgs of herbal cannabis and 70 kgs of cannabis resin, with an estimated value of around €16,086,000, the Irish Tax and Customs said.
With Revenue’s x-ray scanner and detector dog Jasper, the drugs were discovered when Revenue officers, with the assistance of An Garda Síochána, stopped and searched an unaccompanied freight unit which had disembarked a ferry from Bilbao, Spain.
Meanwhile, the Irish Tax and Customs reports that, on August 8, Revenue officers seized approximately 104kgs of cocaine with an estimated value of €7.2m at Rosslare Europort.
Two men, one in his 50’s and one in his 40’s, were arrested by an Garda Síochána and are currently being detained in Garda Stations in Wexford and Kerry. An investigation is under way.
