A man in his 50s has been arrested following the discovery of €3m worth of herbal cannabis on August 23, the Irish tax and customs reported.
Revenue officers seized approximately 150.6 kgs of herbal cannabis at Rosslare Europort with an estimated street value of €3,012,000.
The drugs were discovered when, as a result of routine profiling, an accompanied freight unit that had disembarked a ferry from Bilbao, Spain, was stopped and searched.
Garda Síochána arrested the man following the seizure of the drugs.
He is currently detained under section 2 of the criminal justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda Station in Co. Wexford.
In a statement, the Irish tax and customs said: “These routine operations are part of Revenue’s ongoing work targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity.”
As it is reported, investigations are ongoing.
