Finland´s port operations will be affected by the strike which is scheduled to take place on Thursday 14 of December.
The Transport Workers’ Union, AKT, has announced that the political strike on Thursday 14 December will also include the stevedoring activities.
It will cover all Finnish port operations, including unloading, loading, receipt and release of units.
“AKT participates in a political industrial struggle to oppose the government’s weakening of working life,” it is said in the announcement.
Within the scope of the collective agreement for stevedoring, terminal operations and forwarding industry warehouse terminal and port workers, the work stoppage begins on Thursday 14 December at 06:00 and ends on Friday 15 December 2023 at 06:00.
The strike also affects other sectors such as truck industry, bus stations, oil product industry and related activities, travel agencies etc.
“The purpose of a political strike is to oppose the decisions of the government or parliament. It does not seek to influence collective agreements, but rather the working life legislation. AKT participates in a political industrial struggle to oppose the government’s weakening of working life,” says the union AKT.
The aim of the strike is to oppose, as unions say, in the employee-hostile government program that is scrapping the rules of the game of working life built over decades.
