The Israeli military launched strikes against infrastructure at the Hudaydah (Hodeidah) port city in Yemen’s west coast on the Red Sea Monday morning, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirms in a statement.
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) on Monday launched airstrikes on Yemen’s port of Hodeidah, targeting the port’s infrastructure. Shipping Telegraph cannot independently verify the IDF statement.
The port has been attacked several times in the past. Last month, the Israeli navy missile ships conducted direct strikes from the sea.
The attack was carried out after many advance warnings by the IDF in order to minimize possible harm to the civilian population in the area, the IDF said.
The United Nations Security Council on July 14 renewed the mandate of the UN mission in Yemen’s key port city of Hudaydah, as regional tensions spike and international concern mounts over recent Houthi attacks on shipping in the Red Sea.
The UN Security Council unanimously adopted resolution 2786, extending the UN Mission to support the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA) until January 28, 2026.
The resolution reaffirms the Council’s support for the 2018 Stockholm Agreement, including the ceasefire in the port city, where the majority of Yemen’s imports and vital aid shipments pass through.
The Hudaydah Port (Hodeidah port) is a key Yemeni port on the Red Sea coast and the second largest port in the country, located in Al Hudaydah, the fourth largest city in Yemen.
The port is situated in the middle of Yemen’s west coast on the Red Sea.
