Lalemant Group and Hellenic Ports have inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to create a new logistics corridor between UK, North-West and South Europe.
The primary objective of the partnership is to attract new cargo volumes to the Port of Thessaloniki and to the Flemish ports, while creating new flows destined for both Parties’ hinterlands.
The collaboration will focus on key commodities, including, but not limited to: steel/metal products, cars and parts, fertilizers, renewable energy equipment, recycled materials, building materials, wood products, grain/cereals, and minerals.
This alliance unites two geographically and operationally complementary industry companies, the Hellenic Ports and the Lalemant Group.
“Our geographical complementarity and shared commitment to good faith cooperation will unlock substantial operational synergies,” said Arthur W Seynaeve, chief executive officer of Lalemant Group.
Anchored in Thessaloniki, Hellenic Ports offers port services, vessel clearance, on-the-ground coordination, and support across all major Greek ports, including Piraeus, Volos, Patras, and more.
Hellenic Ports brings its strategic Southern European gateway, connecting established shipping routes to the Black Sea, North Africa, and the wider Mediterranean region. Its international hinterland includes Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia, North Macedonia, Romania, and Hungary.
Founded in 1885, Lalemant Group -with its central North-West Europe location- is one of the longest standing transportation companies in Europe. Lalemant specialises in chartering, barging, agency, forwarding and trucking.
It has an experience of cargo flows in the Hamburg-Le Havre range and a key hub function for flows between the South of Europe, the UK, and Scandinavia.
“This MOU marks the beginning of an exciting and transformative journey,” said Andrey Tokarev, managing director of Hellenic Ports. “By combining our strategic southern European gateway with Lalemant Group’s strong North-West European hub, we are creating a unique, end-to-end solution that will significantly enlarge our market shares and redefine logistics efficiency for our customers.”
