Nassau Cruise Port in the Bahamas which welcomes the largest mega yachts and super yachts in the world, reached a significant milestone, as the port sets new one day passenger record of 28,554 passengers. The record does not include the crew count, which is an additional 10,302 people at Nassau Cruise Port.

Nassau Cruise Port welcomed 28,554 passengers on 27th of February 2023, a new record for the expanded cruise port, with six ships alongside simultaneously. The news comes as the final touches are being made to a major expansion of the port’s facilities. The port upgrades are expected to substantially boost cruise ship arrivals in future years. The construction phase began in 2019 and is anticipated to be completed in May 2023.

The “new” Nassau Cruise Port, centering around a unique, authentically Bahamian experience, will celebrate its grand opening at the end of May with a weekend of private events featuring local and international entertainment, said the Port.

The six ships in port were the Royal Caribbean International’s Wonder of The Seas and Harmony of the Seas, the Carnival Cruise Lines’ Mardi Gras, the Celebrity Cruise Line’s Reflection and Beyond and MSC Cruises’ Meraviglia.

In the announcement the Nassau Cruise Port said that “The expanded berths are certainly delivering on the sizeable investment that we have made in them, creating the additional capacity required to achieve this extraordinary new record today. Incredibly, our record today does not include the crew count, which is an additional 10,302 people at Nassau Cruise Port. That’s thousands of visitors exploring downtown Nassau, learning about our island and culture through our restaurants, taxis and tours, and making wonderful memories of The Bahamas that will surely drive them to return.”
