Nassau Cruise Port sets new record with 5.6M passengers in 2024

Nassau Cruise Port (NCP) has once again broken its annual passenger record, welcoming 5.6 million cruise passengers in 2024, according to cruise port operator Global Ports Holding (GPH), which operates 32 cruise ports in 19 countries.

This marks the second consecutive year of record-breaking growth for the port, underscoring the continued global demand for Bahamian travel experiences.

In 2023, Nassau Cruise Port welcomed 4.4 million passengers, surpassing the previous year’s total of 3.2 million, signalling a consistent and impressive upward trajectory.

The record-breaking passenger numbers, NCP said, are directly linked to the substantial growth in the Bahamian economy.

In 2024, Bahamas welcomed approximately 9.1 million visitors, with 61% of them-approximately 5.6 million-arriving via cruise ships that sailed into Nassau Cruise Port, according to NCP release.

Mike Maura, Jr., CEO of Nassau Cruise Port, confirmed the news on the social media channels, mentioning that he anticipates the unveiling of new enhancements to Nassau in 2025.

“We express our sincere appreciation to the cruise industry for their steadfast partnership and support, and to the passengers who opted to discover Nassau and the broader Bahamas,” he said.

Nassau Cruise Port (NCP), Nassau’s international cruise gateway, states in its official website that NCP is part of a consortium comprising Global Ports Holding Plc, the Bahamas Investment Fund (BIF) and the Yes Foundation.

Only 50 miles southeast of the coast of Florida, Nassau is served by three of the largest and busiest cruise ports in the world – PortMiami, Port Everglades, and Port Canaveral, within easy cruising distance.
