Russian forces have launched a ballistic missile strike on a berth at the port of Chornomorsk last week, where a civilian vessel flying the Maltese flag was docked, according to Ukraine’s deputy prime minister for restoration and minister for communities and territories development Oleksii Kuleba.
A crew member was also injured in the attack. “Unfortunately, one crew member was injured. He is currently receiving the necessary medical assistance,” Kuleba said.
According to the government official, the vessel was preparing to carry a container cargo.
As a result of the strike, three containers were damaged, and an oil spill occurred, he noted.
Response operations have been swiftly initiated, with a containment boom being installed to contain the consequences of the spill.

All relevant services are operating in a heightened mode.
Kuleba stressed that this was “another act of Russian terror against civilian port infrastructure, international trade, and maritime safety.” “Russia is deliberately attacking facilities that ensure export, logistics and food security,” the minister added.
