A tourist boat was sailing adrift in the sea area 0.6 nautical miles northeast of Skopelos, due to a mechanical problem.
The boat was safely towed to the port of Skopelos, which had earlier issued a distress signal as it suffered mechanical damage and was sailing adrift.
As it is reported by the coast guard, the Greek-flagged tourist boat had ten foreign passengers onboard.
Shortly after noon on Thursday (04.07.2024) a patrol vessel of the coast guard, a passing passenger-car ferry and a passenger-tourist boat were sent to the scene, in order for the tourist boat to be towed back to the port of the island from where it had left.
No injuries were reported from the incident and no marine pollution was observed.
The port authority of Skopelos, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, prohibited the vessel from sailing, until a certificate of seaworthiness by the class society who monitors the boat is given to the authority.
