Two fatalities and two seriously injured last week at Pier 6 location in Rotterdam, according to C. Steinweg – Handelsveem B.V.
The news came to light by the globally operating independent service provider in the fields of storage, handling, forwarding, chartering and other related commodity logistics services, C. Steinweg Group, with a post on social media LinkedIn and a statement in the company’s website.
In a statement, C. Steinweg confirmed that – according to initial reports – the two fatalities and the two seriously injured colleagues were working in the hold of a vessel, discharging steel plates.
C. Steinweg – Handelsveem B.V. said in a statement: “It is with great sadness that we have to inform you that a serious accident occurred this morning at our Pier 6 location in Rotterdam. According to initial reports, there are two fatalities among our colleagues and two seriously injured colleagues that were working in the hold of a vessel, discharging steel plates.
“The situation is currently still being dealt with by emergency services, who are on site. Our first concern is for those involved and their families. We are doing everything we can to support the affected families and employees, and are providing assistance wherever needed. We are deeply saddened and our thoughts are with them. Out of respect for those affected, we will not be making any further statements at this time.”
